About CalendarGlobe

Your worldwide reference for public holidays and school holidays — free, accurate, and always up to date.

What is CalendarGlobe?

CalendarGlobe is a free, comprehensive online reference for public holidays and school holidays worldwide. We provide verified holiday data for over 200 countries and territories across all continents, covering the years 2024 through 2031.

Whether you are planning an international trip, scheduling a cross-border business meeting, coordinating with overseas colleagues, or simply checking when schools are closed in another country — CalendarGlobe gives you the exact dates you need, clearly presented and easy to navigate.

Our platform covers:

  • National public holidays — official holidays declared by each country's government
  • Regional public holidays — holidays that apply to specific states, provinces, or regions
  • School holiday periods — term dates and vacation schedules including summer, winter, spring, and autumn breaks
  • Interactive yearly calendars — visual monthly calendars with all holidays highlighted
  • Multi-year coverage — data from 2024 to 2031 so you can plan well in advance

Our Data Sources

Accuracy is the foundation of everything we do. All holiday data on CalendarGlobe is researched directly from authoritative, official sources for each country. These include:

  • National government websites and official gazettes
  • Ministries of education (for school holiday schedules)
  • National legislative databases and public law texts
  • Official announcements from state and regional authorities

Examples of primary sources we use:

  • Germany: Kultusministerkonferenz (KMK) — the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education for school holidays; individual state government portals for regional holidays
  • France: Ministère de l'Éducation Nationale for school holidays; Journal Officiel for public holidays
  • United Kingdom: GOV.UK official bank holidays and school term dates by nation (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland)
  • USA: U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for federal holidays; individual state education departments for school calendars
  • Japan: Cabinet Office of Japan for national holidays
  • India: Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions for gazetted holidays; individual state education departments
  • Islamic countries: Official government announcements for lunar-calendar holidays (Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, etc.)

Data is reviewed and updated regularly as governments publish their official schedules — typically in the final quarter of the preceding year. We also monitor mid-year changes and update our database accordingly.

Important note: Holiday dates — especially school holidays — can change at short notice due to government decisions, emergency measures, or administrative updates. While we strive to keep all data current and accurate, minor discrepancies may occur. For legally binding information, always verify with the relevant official authority.

How CalendarGlobe is Built

CalendarGlobe is built with a custom static site generator developed in Node.js. Each country page is generated from a structured JSON data file containing all public holiday and school holiday data for that country, across all covered years and regions.

This architecture means CalendarGlobe delivers:

  • Extremely fast page loads — all pages are pre-rendered HTML with no server-side processing on request
  • Excellent SEO performance — clean, semantic HTML with structured data (Schema.org) for every page
  • High reliability — static files served from a dedicated server in Germany with no database dependencies
  • Easy scalability — adding a new country or year is a matter of adding a JSON data file and rebuilding

The entire site is served from a Hetzner cloud server located in Germany, ensuring fast load times for European users and compliance with EU data protection regulations.

Our Mission

We believe that holiday information should be freely accessible, accurate, and easy to understand — for everyone, everywhere.

There are many holiday websites out there, but most are cluttered with ads, hard to navigate, out of date, or limited to a small number of countries. CalendarGlobe was built to be different: clean and fast by design, comprehensive in its coverage, and genuinely reliable in its data.

Our goal is to be the go-to global holiday reference — the site you bookmark and return to whenever you need to check a date, plan a trip, or coordinate across borders.
